Groundwater protection scheme
The Groundwater Compensation Scheme concluded in November 2019, as per the provisions of the Schedule 7 of the Cardiff Bay Barrage Act 1993.
Consequently, daily groundwater monitoring of levels in South Cardiff has effectively ceased in respect of this legal requirement under the Act.
Upon its conclusion, the 20-year monitoring scheme revealed only deep level groundwater changes in groundwater levels, which has left both properties and infrastructure unaffected.
